Works on Paper

Daguerrotype Drawings 2003
I devised a technique of drawing with pencil through a literal screen on paper in order accentuate a hazy sense of distance to the subject. It was an attempt to achieve a similar feel of mark-making on graphite as in some of the painting images I did in the early 2000's. The result was an image that seemed to be composed of small, all most asian-looking characters. -
Preachers 2005
Billy Sunday was an early pioneer of mass Evangelical rallies. These drawings are based on photographs of his dramatic poses and supplied with the original captions I found in an old biography on the Preacher. -
Only Newspaper (Rubbings) 2007
I set myself the task (stemming as much from an environmental impulse, as an aesthetic one) to make art solely from newprint. These stock market pages from the Wall Street Journal, with the fish and other trophies, were created by rubbing darker portions of the same newspaper over stencils cut in the shape of the creatures. -
Drawings on Archival Cardboard 2008
These drawings are based on the photographs of Nil's Strindberg and follow the painted work done surrounding the ill fated "Andree Polar Exhibition" of 1897.
